jun 4-13 london international fine art fair at olympia (LIFAF) | london united kingdom
even though it has recently suffered an identity crisis, with ever changing organizers, names, marketing strategies, dating guidelines, and decor, LIFAF, aka 'summer olympia', is considered a business barometer by the british antiques trade. many exhibitors, including guinevere, gordon watson ltd, or vanderven and vanderven, erect statement-making stands to showcase fine and decorative antiques, vintage furniture, or asian art.  for many american interior designers, 'summer olympia' is a vip resource for fine, vintage, or decorative furnishings.

grosvenor house art & antiques fair
the cancellation of the grosvenor house art & antiques fair in 2009, after 75 years as the art and antiques fair in the united kingdom, leaves an enormous opening in london's june art & antiques events calendar.  in addition to LIFAF, four organizers of new fairs are competing to fill this opening.  we'll see how many will succeed...

nov 16-22 winter fine art & antiques fair olympia | london united kingdom
olympia can be so confusing!  even though it is held at the same venue, the winter fine art & antiques fair olympia, aka 'winter olympia', is no longer affiliated with LIFAF, aka 'summer olympia', because it is now managed by by a different organizer.  'winter olympia' traditionally attracted more members of the british antiques dealer's association (BADA), who often exhibited at the BADA fair in the spring and at the, now cancelled, grosvenor house art & antiques fair in the summer.  so, 'winter olympia' was often more classical than 'summer olympia' because it featured more fine english furniture.  even so, many american interior designers (including moi!) consider both 'winter olympia' and 'summer olympia' vip events.
