the winter antiques show, the best of the best' american antiques show held at the park avenue armory, features exceptional american, asian, english and european fine and decorative arts, dating from antiquity through the 1960's. special events include the 'see and be seen' opening night party, and the 'meet the designers' reception on young collectors night. during the expert eye lectures with book signings, you could also meet interior designers jeffrey billhuber, the author of the way home: reflections on american beauty, and david kleinberg, the author of traditional now: interiors by david kleinberg. definitely worth a trip to new york in january, despite the cold weather!

highlights of design san francisco at the SFDC (san francisco design center) include presentations, panel discussions, seminars, product launches, and receptions. the keynote presentations are all about building (or, rebuilding) your business. be inspired by trina turk, who built a fashion and furnishings empire, san francisco interior designers michael booth and douglas durkin, who started their own design firms, or california interior designers|bloggers melanie coddington, grant k. gibson, and scot meacham wood, who use social media to drive their businesses. gregory peters will also talk about self publishing his new book, the dark side of decorating. and, charlotte moss will be signing her latest book, charlotte moss decorates: the art of creating elegant and inspired room.

asia week, a collaboration between new york asian art specialists, auction houses, museums, and cultural institutions, includes exhibitions, auctions, and special events. this year's event guide will be published on the asia week website in february 2012.

the LCDQ (la cienega design quarter), along with the nearby PDC (pacific design center), is a los angeles interior design shopping mecca. legends 2012 | windows to the world celebrates the impact of travel on design with programs and events including keynote panel discussions, cocktail parties and receptions, coffee and tea parties, personal appearances, trunk shows, and exhibitions. the displays in the windows of the antique, furniture, rug, accessories, and art galleries, shops and showrooms that line the courtyards, avenues, and boulevards of the LCDQ are not to be missed! who can resist a little window shopping?

art | basel | miami beach (ABMB), held at the miami beach convention center, is the most prestigious american modern and contemporary art show. during the show, there are satellite exhibitions at every imaginable venue, including public and private art museums, such as the museum of contemporary art (MOCA), the rubell family collection, or the cisneros fontanais art foundation (CIFO), the miami design district, or the wynwood arts district. no wonder it's a favorite winter meeting place for international collectors, artists, dealers, curators, and critics. during ABMB, miami buzzes with exclusive parties and events. so, rent a ferrari if you want to arrive instyle... and, pack your party clothes...
